The Brighton Cemetery (1821) is located at the end of Hoyt Place in the City of Rochester. This cemetery was in the Village of Brighton until 1905 when the whole Village was annexed by the City of Rochester. The early records of the cemetery burned in a fire at the Presbyterian Church.

Lucy is going to have a problem when she dies.
She Saw
 | I find cemeteries interesting, but sad. This was a very old cemetery, and maintenance was barely being done. Grass clipping were all over the headstones. Large trees grew right next to grave stones. Wild vegetation encroached many graves. In another few years, no one will even know that these graves exist.
Many of the tombstones were so old that the writing wasn't legible anymore.
That's why I find cemeteries so sad. How sad to have lived your entire life on earth and end up being wiped out by unkempt vegetation and the vagaries of weathering!
This sweet lass seems to have overcome that fate. Who is she waiting for? |
